Las Vegas is known as a haven for gamblers. The place offers several casinos, which have many card games and slots machines to boast of. But there is another huge Las Vegas attraction and this is the Shark Reef Aquarium here. This predator aquarium is not to be found anywhere else in all of North America, which is why the place is so popular. A fascinating Las Vegas attraction is the exhibits at this museum can make even the best travelled of us all awestruck. There are over 14 exhibits at this Mandalay bay aquarium and each one is more fascinating than the other.
The huge 1.3 million gallon ship wreck is indeed very fascinating. The aquariums hold diving programs here and you can actually get to swim with the sharks and other fish. The experience is great and very safe, so must not be missed at all.
The Komodo dragon is a must see too. This is said to be the heaviest living reptile of the world and can send chills down your spine even when seen in a protected environment.
The parrot fish is another highly recommended exhibit. The fish has a mouth that is shaped like the beak of a parrot and resembles the bird in its color too.
The sand tiger shark is very intriguing also. The fish has several teeth, which prevent it from closing its mouth fully. The sharp teeth and the awfully menacing look on the face of the fish are no doubt very scary.
The aquarium will take about an hour and a half to see fully; those who would like to do a quick tour can see it in 30 minutes too. The acrylic tube allows one to walk through the aquarium and actually see the fish up close. This is a truly amazing experience and not one that should be missed at all.
The place remains open all seven days a week. On week days the timing are from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening, though on weekends the place closes at 10 pm in order to accommodate the increase in traffic during the time.
The charges for visiting the aquarium are $16.95 for an adult. While kids who are under the age of 4 do not need to buy a ticket, those who are between 5 and 12 years of age have to pay and entry fee of $10.95. The place also has some great group packages to offer. Those who wish to combine admission fee with a photo and a souvenir can choose a package of $24.95 – $29.95. A dinner buffet is also served here and costs $29.99 for children and $37.99 for adults
The aquarium is truly amazing and missing out on seeing it would be a sheer waste. So do inquire about this Las Vegas attraction when you visit Vegas and go and have a look. Believe me you will be glad that you did. The aquarium also has an official site where one can learn about the latest programs being offered.
